The discipline is designed to acquire knowledge, ideas and skills in highway construction during the preparation of bachelors in specialty 133 "Industrial mechanical engineering". The purpose of studying of the discipline is to study the technological processes of construction of various elements of highways, which ensure year-round safe movement of vehicles with specified speeds and loads and the maximum effect in the national economy.

Road transport plays a leading role in Ukraine's transport system, accounting for the carriage of over 80% of all goods and millions of passengers. Annual expenditure on road transport operations runs into billions of UAH. The cost of transport services depends largely on the efficient functioning of all road transport components, which fall into two major categories: rolling stock and constant structures. At the present stage, cost-effective vehicle operation can be achieved primarily through the rational development of the road network and the industry's production and technical infrastructure.
